Woody doesn’t travel far out of his zone with this film, but Cate Blanchett steals the show. Here is the review.

I must say that I’ve only seen three of the nine Best Picture nominations, and at this point, I already realize how tough of a choice it will be for the voting members to decide who wins these awards. I’d hate to have a vote myself, because I would have just as tough of a time deciding too.
It’s a great time for a few good films that happen to get made amongst to muckety muck that Hollywood does put out these days.
Tom Hanks has turned in another outstanding performance in this film, and so has newcomer Barkhad Abdi. Here is Nick’s Flix with the review.
Last Friday, I went down to my favorite theater, the Regal Riviera 8 in downtown. I watched Scorsese’s latest film “The Wolf of Wall Street.” Here is an installment of Nick’s Flix with the review.
As you no doubt have heard, the NFL is considering several plans to either move Super Bowl XLVIII up to Friday or Saturday or push it back to Monday. Several people have already said what I agree with on this matter, that the NFL should have expected that this might happen when they announced that they were playing the game there a few years back.
But, the thing that gets me about this is that everyone is acting like it’s going to be the end of days if the NFL decides to move the game to a different time. Yeah, I know you planned that party and booked that room, but it’s just a game!
Oh, what’s that, it cost you $225 for that Banquet Hall? Oh…….. well, since you put it that way. Gee thanks, NFL.
DISCLAIMER: I in no way know what the NFL is going to do. The preceding is just a premonition.
So you didn’t think I would let this one slip by, huh?
I’ll keep this very, very brief.
Deport his ass back to Canada. Or, better yet, let’s send him to Mexico. Yeah, Mexico. Maybe he’ll fit in with the cartels that are in operation down there. Or, still yet, how about Cuba? Does he even have fans there?
All kidding aside. I could care less for the jerk. He’s a pretentious, ninny idiot with no talent. And yet, that seems to get you all the money in creation these days.
Even though I hate him just as much as the next person, here’s something to actually celebrate.
Virginia’s new Attorney General Mark Herring has said that the state will no longer prosecute the ban on same-sex marriage, citing that it violates the 14th amendment of the US Constitution.
I don’t have much to add to this other than: Hello, Tennessee, are you watching this? It’s right next door you know, that thing, it’s called the 21st Century. Let’s get there, quick! 🙂
So, this morning before I take the other half to work, I decide to turn on “Dude, Where’s My Car” on Encore. This movie is no less confusing now than it was in 2000. I remember saying at the time I first saw it that “You have to be high to understand this film.” While that’s still probably true, at least someone had the gall to make a film that speaks to a certain sect that is less ignored in mainstream cinema now than in 2000. Is it funny? Of course it is, but people older than my generation probably would still not get it.
“Annnnnnnnd thennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn?”
Watched “The Simpsons” from a couple of weeks ago. The episode was entitled “Steal This Episode.” The plot involved Homer, internet movie piracy and Hollywood getting angry. It’s a rare good episode from them, and they’ve had a LOT of duds over the last few years. Heck, I’m not even a regular watcher anymore. But there was one thing that rings true, this:
You can’t tell me that you haven’t felt this way at a movie theater any time in the last 10 years.
So, I haven’t blogged for a long time, and I have this personal webspace sitting around. Naturally, the only thing I could do is merge the two together into one, big, clusterfuck of something.
To sum up what’s been going on lately with me. I’ve been good. Me and Greg are about to celebrate 9 years together in a couple of months. Needless to say, I couldn’t be any happier with things. Job is going great, still churning hard every day. And, I’m still working on getting healthier. My legs have been doing good, and I need to get back into a workout routine.
That’s all for now, stand by for thoughts a plenty!
