The Dark Knight

All I have to say about this film is…

Wow.

I have never seen a film such as this. If you love movies even a little bit, you MUST see this film.

I’m going to watch it again tomorrow. UPDATE: That didn’t happen. Just didn’t get around to it.
‘Nuff said.

All-Star Crap

The bad sides of that game going 15 innings…

1. It seemed like it would never end.

2. We put up with 6 more innings of Tim McCarver’s “expert commentary” than we cared to listen to.

3. Why the hell should this game matter for anything at all? Thanks Bud Selig.

Ugh.

Thank god it wasn’t 2002. That’s all for now.

You know what really grinds my gears…

In a thread on the haven of fanb0i love… golden-road.net… the discussion is about a new Price video game to come out in the future. Turns out several music cues have surfaced via this game. Someone asks for a particular piece, to which one certain BigJon (the programmer of one of the crappiest, buggiest, awful games ever to hit the Earth), says, “Oh, go check out my game, it’s in there.” If that’s not blatant advertising, I don’t know what it is.

And the sad thing… it’s allowed. Screaming, essentially, “Oh, go look at my game, it’s got what that game doesn’t have”. It’s allowed there. Are you honestly surprised?

Thank god for the Invision-ran Game Show Forum, where that shit won’t go down.

So, I’m watching NFL Network and what’s on is a NFL Films show on I don’t know what in particular, and the subject on fat guys in the NFL comes up. It’s one of those tounge-in-cheek films they did in the 1980s.

After the segment is over, the fade to black for the commercial, and what comes on…

..an ad for Taco Bell.

Now that’s suggestive product placement!

The Amazing Mets

Wow, how low can upper management go? Firing a manager that has been rumored to be on the chopping block is one thing. But, to do it at 3:15 AM via a press release? After game one of a six game road trip?

I think I speak for everyone here when I say, “What the f!@%?”

Shame on you, upper level Mets managment. You could have done this with much more dignity than to issue PR in the dead of night.

At least I slept just as good, nonetheless…

(Reading responses on LJ) At least baugh217 kind of expected this, so maybe it’s not as annoying as it seems on the surface.

YMMV.

Edited to include mention of it being a road trip…

Why the 911 system works

It’s not often you see a news story of why something in America actually works the way it is supposed to. This guy is probably glad that he was in the right place at the right time.

911 manager makes 911 call in the 911 center

Comment away!

Note to everybody…

I have decided to retire my old AIM screenname after lo these many years… everyone may now find me at nicholasminTN79 on AIM.

That is all…

More to come.

Tales of Insomnia

So here I sit at 4:00 in the morning, at one of those times where you feel like you want to sleep but can’t get to sleep. At the moment, I’m watching “Aliens” on Encore Action. I had forgotten what made this film so good, but then again, I liked the original Ridley Scott film just as much as James Cameron’s. Speaking of Cameron, I still don’t have an urge to watch the (in my opinion) most watered down film of all time, “The Great Sinking CGI Ship of 1997”, at least that’s my title for it.

I often wonder what life after college will be like. Of course, the obvious question is what kind of job will I have. I initally thought a PA job at a local station would be the way I would start out. But, there are a couple of other possibilities to consider. One is to see if I can get on at Charter, where I have been helping out with football and basketball games. Another is radio. One of my teachers has said that I need to update my demo tape and get my resume together for just such a thing. After all this time, I feel I am finally comfortable with considering myself a viable radio personality in the making. We shall see how this turns out as we progress farther towards December. Let me just say this: I hope to have a job lined out as soon as I graduate, I don’t have time wait around nor do I want to wait around to get life started.

BTW, Klauss, you summarized the $2 million idiot from Price the other day with sheer perfection. In case anyone doesn’t know what I’m talking about, just take a look at this and prepare to laugh out loud.

TTFN.

The Price is Wrong

OK… I have officially had it with The Price is Right.

Someone tried to bid $2 million in contestant’s row this morning. That’s right, $2 million on a one-bid item. I don’t know what Stan Blits thinks he’s doing, but he needs to go back to selecting music. He’s not worthy of co-producer. I have transformed in one show from a back seat critic to a harsh critic. How does this staff pick such ludicrous and moronic contestants?

I think I’ll cleanse myself of this by watching some old episodes on tape… (pops one in) ahhh, feel much much better.

Jay Wolpert, where are you when we need you?

OK, so California’s supreme court has thrown out Prop. 22… a great happening indeed for gay marriage. But, those damn conservatives are trying to get a referendum on the ballot to define marriage just like the hated Prop. 1 in Tennessee back in 2006… to define marriage as one man and one woman. I hate this goddamn limited thinking moronic society that we live in. It’s pure discrimination. You know that proposition will pass, the church always manages to get the vote out when they need it.

Why is it that the only state that allows marriages is one of the most expensive to live in, at least I think it is.

Maybe Greg and I should just move to Canada.

Sigh.
