As of 12:50 PM on Friday, the LAN finally came back online. That is over two days of downtime. How efficient does this college want to be????
Gah.
I’ll have more positive words later…

I swear to god, I hate this campus. The network went down early Wednesday morning at about 3:00 AM. Here it is: 48 hours later…
Not fixed.
It’s spring break no less, so 99% of people are gone.
Great. Just fucking great. Thank goodness Greg has dialup time on his DSL account and is letting me borrow it for the time being.
Fuck ETSU.
Well, spring break is here, or as I call it, just a week off.
I got a goodie out of layaway yesterday- a Liteon DVD-RW drive, and it works like a charm, churing out stuff already… 🙂
So, the A-Sun Championship is here today, and it’s on ESPN2 at 2:00 PM. I thought about going to the game, but two factors turned me off of it. A) ETSU lost Thursday, so no free ticket and B) one ticket is $15. OUCH! No way, I’ll save my funds. :-\
Besides, would you really want to see my unenthusiastic form broadcast to a nationwide audience? Maybe someone does, I don’t know…
I’m taping the broadcast for what it’s worth anyway, even if it is two Nashville colleges playing here in Johnson City.
Should be fun, but not at $30 expense if I can help it.
I must say, I think we’re the laughing stock of college basketball tonight. Forget your Dukes, your Texases and your Memphises (if such words are even part of the human lexicon, and if not, I just created them, trademark rules apply, hehe)… anyway… to lose on a stupid turnover and a last second shot, what a way to end a season. Not only that: the bucket was the #1 play on SportsCenter tonight. Ack. What a way to end a season that could have been better. If only injuries was not a factor, but as they say, that’s the way the cookie crumbles.
The women’s team lost too. Oh well, there’s always the baseball team to root for. (And why don’t they bring back football!?)
EDIT: And may I be the first second to wish hmtriplecrown a Happy Birthday on the correct date. Cheers to you, Mike!
Friday: Took a roadtrip to Newport, TN to take the complete US 25E split to Corbin, KY. Beautiful weather made for a nice roadtrip. Checked out an interesting tourist attraction in Corbin, the restoration of Colonel Sanders’ original cafe on US 25W (at the former location of the US 25 split). I took some pictures and will try to get some up soon.
Saturday: Decided for the heck of it to go to KFC here in town, and Greg told an interesting story of how his Weather and Climate teacher told him one time that upon asking while dining at a KFC of why the temperature was so cold, the response was “to get all the old people eating up my buffet to leave.” I then come up with a bit of genius saying that when one gets old, the decision they have to make is “Do I want the white gravy or the brown gravy???”
Lo and behold, a few minutes later, Greg overhears someone at the buffet line… “Which gravy do you want?”
Spot on.
My Greg is the most wondeful guy in the world. He got me a CD I never thought I would ever see in person in my lifetime, let alone have my very own copy… something that’s been sold out for over two years.
I love him to death.

![]() “Wocka! Wocka!” You’re the life of the party, and you love making people crack up. If only your routine didn’t always bomb! You may find more groans than laughs, but always keep the jokes coming. |
I am not surprised at all…

Nothing like some shameless self-plugging, eh?
Later.
A late happy birthday to baugh217 and obeyjustin
Now, an update on my last post…
I talked with station management, and they totall agree with me. Turns out that he found out I complained about him too, so I am watching my back. Management has assured me that they’ve got my back if it becomes an official matter. End of story (as far as I’m concerned).
In other news, I went to sleep, it looked usual. I wake up, and BAM! there is mondo snow on the ground. There goes traveling anywhere today. Hehe.
More later…
You know what really grinds my gears…
People who disregard set rules.
There is this guy, who shall remain nameless, who has been buidling up quite a reputation in my book for quite a while, and I’ve just had it with him.
Last semester, he got fired from the campus radio station for saying questionable things on the air. Also, he came up to me one night while I was working in the TV station. He came up to me and suggested that I go on a TV show where I fake people out (so to speak), such as acting like I’m on the phone with a Doctor, then telling people that they have six months to live, and then laughing at them saying “I fooled you.” Then I told him that my dad had suffered for several months before he died of cancer, after which all he could say was “I’m sorry.” Guh.
Anyway, fast forward to today, he made comments on the air (I could hear this via a feed on the hall speakers) to the effect of “It’s black history month, and I’m looking for all of those chocolate colored ladies to call the request line, I’d like to come there and make a chocolate-vanilla swirl with you.”
That does it. I kind of mentioned this incident to a teacher, I thought that that was was way out of line and racially insensitive. You know, our teachers here at ETSU teach us professionalism, and I don’t think the message has gotten through to him. If it were my choice, I would have kicked him to the curb a long time ago, but, alas, I don’t make those decisions, I’m just an undergraduate.
That’s enough ranting for now.
EDIT: I edited this entry, I had not recounted past events correctly. Greg was there and did clear it up for me.
