The Edge- Night 2

I rocked last night, no doubt about it! I didn’t get it recorded however, but it’s all good. I’m comfortable now, and I can’t wait for the next time.

I got me a webcam too, been making some images, fascinating stuff, if you’re on Yahoo, shoot me a message to nicholasm79 and I’ll chat with you about that there, if you’re interested.

Hey riversidedimple, give me a shoutout online tonight, I need to talk with you.

That’s all for now…

The Audio Files You’ve Been Waiting For!!!

Props go out to Jay Lewis, who pointed me to where I could resolve the AAARGH! issue.

What follows is a Zip file of eight of my ten spots for my first night on “The Edge”, on 4 Feb 2005. Mark that down in your history books class. 😀

Me on The Edge, Night #1

Let me know what you guys think. And hurry, it’ll only be up seven days, if you want this after seven days, just shoot me a message.

AAARGH!

Can someone give me a clue as to a place that can host one fippety 7.5 MB zip file for just a few days. This is important to me. I hate flipping “free” web hosting providers, they piss me off.

Thanks!

The Edge, Night #1

Well, everything went great, except for the fact that I did my campus promo spot when I should have been doing my personailty spot. Oh well, that’s the quirks of a first outing I guess. Overall it went fairly well, I had a great time! I could get used to doing this… 🙂

What to Write

Well, my radio gig starts tonight, I am pumped. I know I’ll do well. Just don’t want to stutter too much, if you know what I mean.

Classes going good, we discussed the quiz scandals in Survey of Braodcasting this morning, gave me a chance to show my knowledge a bit.

I wonder if people see me as a geek for speaking up a lot in class, I guess I just don’t hold back my opinions, thoughts and ideas. I guess I’m destined to be in broadcasting anyway if I don’t have a fear of speaking for the most part.

BTW, I will be taking audio samples of me on the air, maybe I’ll find somewhere to post them online for you guys to hear them. 🙂

That’s all for now…

So, I happened to start talking to a fellow broadcasting major here at ETSU named Greg, turns out he found me through the Invision board (which most of you on my friends list are familiar with). He came over and hung out yesterday. And let me tell you… we had a blast! Watched lots of Price is Right. He loves the music just as much as I do. He’s also saving me bucks by letting me borrow his Survey of Broadcasting book. Savings of about $50, booyeah!

Finally got all my other books, and I have three papers due in ENG 1020 next Monday. They’re only about a page each, double spaced, so they shouldn’t be that hard to do. One of them is an issue proposal for the topic I’ll be eventually doing. I haven’t quite decided what to go with yet, but I will in the next couple of days and hash out the stuff on Friday.

My first DJ shift is this Friday from 10:00 PM to Midnight, and since it comes over cable, I plan to videotape those two hours and take some audio samples of my on-air work so you guys here can partake in listening to them 😛 , just don’t tell the station managment about it, hehe 😀

Off to bed I go, toodles.

Lights Out!

I awoke this morning at around 9:45-ish, and found that the power was out! Turns out that someone wrecked a car on Cherokee Road (behind campus) and took out a power generator, knocking out power in this part of the city. It flickered on and off, and I smartly cut off my surge protector to my computer, not wanting it to be damaged. Everything was fine when I got home though, which is good, because housing would not loved to have had me complaining and being a bitch all hours of the night. 😀

One stipulation of doing this campus radio bit is that we all have to have DJ names… and I came up with one fairly quickly. In honor of my first attempt at being in public address for the Daniel Boone Trailblazers… I will be known as “DJ Blazer”. It’s not original, I know, but it’ll do for now. At least I’m fairly confident that I won’t be copied. 😀

In English 1020, we are having a discussion as an assignment on the campus blackboard about the Dobson/Spongebob controversy… here is a LJ-cut with my thoughts…

Time to Update

Well, lots to say… my other three classes are interesting.

Public Speaking will be fun, the teacher is originally from Sweden, went to college here, and yes, he does speak very good English. It’ll be a great class.

Survey of Broadcasting is an interesting class too, more to come on that in a minute…

English 1020: Critical Thinking and Argumentation… This will be a doozy, but not a pain. Just your standard issues class, major research paper, blah blah blah, you college folk have heard this before.

Now, back to the Survey class, one requirement besides classtime is that, get this, I get to DJ on the campus radio station for two hours a week. The downside, is that the only place you can hear this station is on the campus closed-circuit cable system. Blah. It’s been told to me that the broadcasting department can’t get the approval of funding to actually put this station out on the air. But, at least it’s a start! Hey, xanfan, any tips before I go on-air? 😀

Work royally sucks now. Found out people are talking behind my back yet again. I choose to ignore it at this stage. I don’t need anyone’s opinions standing in my way, and they won’t. That’s the extent of how much I’ll think about that. Did get commended by my supervisor for taking care of schedule exceptions for him without him asking me to do so over the weekend. So at least if I can keep my superiors happy, that’s all I have to worry about.

Day One

First class today: Elementary Alegebra… the teacher was very interesting, I must say, just doing his thing to keep us relaxed. I think that I’ll do OK, just gotta re-learn this stuff.

I’m going to the Super China Buffet and then going to work… More later tonight. Toodles.
