First Post of ’05

Well, the last two days have been quite crazy folks. Here’s the recap:

Friday: Went to Pharaoh’s, a bar downtown, to ring in the new year. Had a couple generous glasses of champagne at midnight. Fun atmosphere, great way to ring in the new year!

Saturday: Dan and me went to Asheville, NC to a club called Scandals. Met one of Dan’s friends Chad, great guy, hope to get to know him better. Spent the better part of 3 hours (from 2:00-5:00ish) at a Denny’s just sitting around and chatting about anything and everything. Good stuff. Got home at 8:30 this morning, died, rose again at 2:30, now at work.

Nothing really worth noting happened those two days, but I had a good couple of days. And now, the processing of packing up and moving begins.

2004- Year in Review

This will probably be my last entry for 2004, so, I shall do some brief reflection.

This year has been quite a year. Most of the year I have been off the internet for the most part, but still have kept in touch for the most part with everyone, a big plus. I also have stayed true to my word of not lowering my standards for a relationship, a major plus for me. I am not as financially secure as I would like to be, but I am already taking steps to make sure that is a goal that will be achieved in 2005. I have lost a couple of friends along the way, but I was sure it was the right thing to do. In the new year, I will be careful on whom I call “friend” rather than “acquaintance”.

It’s been an interesting year on the job front, and it has come to the end of being very dissatisfied with my job, but I have to make do with it, because it pays the bills.

The most significant thing to happen in the last year is of course getting the ability to go back to college, I am so excited to be entering one of the most significant times of my life, and have complete confidence that this will help to get me (finally) into something that until now I’ve only dreamed of doing… well, it’s not a dream anymore. 🙂

So, I bid thee farewell 2004, and here’s to a great 2005! Happy New Year to all in LJ land!

and I’ll try not to get too drunk.

Musings of the Packrat

I have come to some conclusions as I look ahead to the daunting task of packing 90% of my stuff to be put in storage in the next couple of weeks:

1. I keep way too much fucking stuff that I should throw out.

2. Mini Storage is fucking expensive!

3. I’ll be so relieved once it’s over and done with.

Three points to live by, courtesy of yours truly. (I don’t know what you’ll do with those points, but I’m sure you’ll think of something to do with them.)

In other news, I weep for Cavalier fans after the massive comeback put on by Fresno State in the MPC Computers Bowl yesterday. I left this game at 3:00 PM to come to work with the score UVA 21, FSU 7, and find out that FSU won the game 34-31 in Overtime. When I heard that, I swear, I almost literally did a spit take on my monitor. Unbelieveable is an underestimation of this! I wonder what the Bull Crap Series has in store for us over the next few days.

XMas Encounters

A Fascinating thing happened this evening, I met a very cool guy. He lives in Bean Station, a small dot on the map about 50 miles away from here. His name is Michael and he’s very good, 22 years old, and very good looking. We are going to meet soon, no date is set however.

I am very excited to say the least.

Me and Dan are going to go out on the town tonight and see what’s shaking on X-Mas night.

Merry Christmas!

X-Mas

Well, the end of yet another year is upon us my friends. I know you all out there love reading my endless banter of my life, but that’s what makes each of us a unique and interesting person.

I just wanted to take a moment to wish everyone here in LiveJournal-land a very Merry Christmas, and I hope you get to spend it with anyone special that you may have. I’ll be by myself, but that’s OK. The family knows I love them anyway, and we’re all miserable and broke (hee hee, what’s new).

In other news… what kind of athlete does Michael Vick think he is? 10 years? $100 million? $37 million in incentives? Geezus, don’t get me started yet again on the way professional athletes get paid. So what if he can run, Fran Tarkenton literally ran his whole career (yeah, I know, from sideline to sideline instead of forward), but still, how can so much hype and expectation go into someone who literally carries a team to a division championship and possibly at least into the second or third round of the playoffs (I don’t see them getting to the Super Bowl, sorry Falcon fans…)

I’m sure this is just the X-Mas present that HE wanted…

All I Want for Christmas is… a makeup bag!?!?

Will the Entry Generate Comments?

In true Chuck G style, Saturday night I done what has not been done in almost four years. I got pounded, waisted, smashed, trashed, whatever you want to call it… I call it stress relief. It felt pretty good.

Now, I know what you’re thinking, and I’ll say this… I’m not going to do this all the time, just occassionally when I feel I need to have fun in the safe confines of my own residence/apartment.

On the other hand… I am doing a rare tape trade with Ryan G., whom I got a wealth of GSN-aired 1983 material from before, and I’m getting some good stuff from him now, like the premiere of “Balance Game” and “On the Nose”, two of the more interesting anomalies in Price history, and an episode from 1990 with the Home Viewer Showcase called “Summer Fun”. I didn’t realize they did those things up until THAT recently. Oh well.

Nothing else to report this week, just getting ready for my three days off this weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), and waiting to hear something from the housing department at ETSU regarding my room assignment, but I probably won’t get anything until after the holiday.

The Friday before the Friday before Christmas

This post is coming to you from Dan’s house.

Loading up some necessary software and finally have the CD ROM swapped out, so the computer is finally complacent and secure, complete with an ethernet card.

My internet resurgance is now set.

I can’t wait until January, mwhahahahaha 😀

Gung Ho!- Starring Nicholas M.

Well, the car is rolling again folks. As thought, the fuel pump did go out, and it cost me $280. Ouch! It’s going to be a very broke christmas for me, but oh well… at least my car is functional again. Yay!

Kudos to my supervisor at work, he let me come in today to make up for being off yesterday so I wouldn’t lose 8 hours of time, that’ll help out tremendously.

Now, gotta find cardboard boxes and start getting organized. Next payday: getting mini-storage to move my schtuff into.

Loans du Jour

Woot! I got an additional $2,000 on a Perkins Loan. Turns out however that I can’t drop below 12 hours because then I won’t be full time. So I decided to drop the Introduction to Theater class over concerns of overloading myself with what I’ll be able to handle. Schedule remains the same. Tuition wouldn’t have mattered if I did have that class or if I dropped it.

So, now I’m basically covered, but alas, another problem has introduced itself…

I have been known to run cars on empty quite frequently, and I think my fuel pump has gone out on my car… which has left me with nobody to take me around, nobody to help me out get from point A to point B, nothing. So I had to walk to work the last couple of days in the freezing dead-ass cold. Not fun. I hope the world and society just realizes how displeased I am with it right now… (but I am not angry, please don’t read between the lines :-P)…

Talked to the guy in Atlanta, he is very intersted in me, we do share common interest, and we’re talking about possibly planning on getting together sometime in January after my classes start. It’ll be good to get away for a weekend to relieve early stress… It’ll probably be for a Friday, Saturday and a Sunday. Woot! (Again!)

Also, I’m thinking about, during Spring break, if baseball does not get in the way, of finally taking a trip out to California to go to “The Price is Right”, I hope I can do this… it would finally be a dream come true. I think that I am in the top-10 of obsessed all-out Price fans. I know the show and have lived it and breathed it for so long (as people on my friends list can probably tell you), and it would be a life event if I get to go… maybe I should send off a ticket request now so I can get them on time…

Pray for the car folks… :-\
