Picnic

Yesterday was the annual ASI Student/Alumni Picnic for the Broadcasting department. I went not expecting to be honored for much… and what do you know, I won a Tommy Award (don’t ask me where the name came from). My award was for a PSA I wrote in Radio Production class this semester for the United Way. I was proud of that PSA, and little did I know that it would win. I was absolutely flabbergasted. Like I told some people, it’s a shot in the arm for confidence in my own work. Just wait till next year…

In other news: I’m moving over to an apartment on the north side of Johnson City, it’ll be cheaper than living here, and I’ll have a cable modem again through Charter. I might be online a couple of days this coming week, but hopefully I’ll be back online by Friday.

TTFN.

The acting scene went off without a hitch today, we nailed in just a couple of takes.

But that wasn’t the fun part, the other two scenes to tape today had lots of blown lines and they were all hilarious and caught on tape, particularly the “Nudge Nudge” scene from Monty Python’s Flying Circus. I plan to get a dub of that stuff, what hilarity!

Not much else to say, I’m out of here for tonight.

A correction to the previous entry: the taping session has been pushed back to Wednesday at Noon to better accomodate our instructor. Greg and I had no problem with this.

I am in process over the last day and the next two of finishing a paper for my philosophy class defending gay marriage. The technique I’m using is to find opposing viewpoints and refuting them. I hope to get at least eight pages out of it. I’ll let everyone here know how it turns out.

Then, after the dust settles, is the final project for Radio Production: a 5-minute children’s story adaptation, and the good news is we can use any music (regardless of copyright, since this will not be released to the public, it’s just merely a class project only). Me and Greg have some ideas, which will remain secret for now, you never know who could be reading. 😛

BTW, to Brandon: it sure is fun, you can have fun too… just BSG is not the place to find that fun anymore, trust me, I know. 🙂

So I haven’t posted here in a while. As if anyone actually reads these… 😛

Not much to repot, just writing papers and going to class, it’s getting towards the later weeks of the semester. In Broadcast Performane next week, we have to act out a 4-5 minute scene. I came up with the perfect scene, the scene from Back to the Future Part II in which Doc and Marty (upon their arrival in 2015) discuss the mission which Marty must do (taking his son’t place and so forth). It’s about the only non-special effects-laden scene in the film with two males that I could think of off the top of my head. I’ll have video of it soon, we tape it a week from tonight, call is at 5:00 PM in the studio next Tuesday for blocking and taping. I have a feeling it’ll be really fun.

Not much more to say…

Sad News for a few on my list…

The TV world has lost one of it’s creative talents today…

Dan Curtis died today at 78, creator of “Dark Shadows” and other great projects and miniseries.

We’ll miss you Dan.

Happy Birthday to lambertman!!!

I just gotta say one thing: George FUCKING Mason!?!? Where the heck did they come from???? My bracket is officially dead.

Today, Greg and I celebrate one year of being a couple. It’s been a great year, and we hope for many many more. I love him so much and hope that our relationship continues to be a success. Thanks to everyone here who has given encouragement and understanding since this courting began. Thank you.

Wednesday afternoon was an interesting one, as for Broadcast Performance class, Greg and I did a co-anchor newscast. Greg did three minutes or news, and I did three minutes of sports. It went rather well. Of course I looked like a horrible blob on the camera, but that was to be expected I guess.

Next assignment: a five-minute interview of another classmate (Leslie, to be exact), should be fun.

Well, what a week last week was… Greg’s car went out last Saturday, so my P.O.S. had to come back into service as primary transportation. It needs work, bad. Getting it tuned up tomorrow and such.

What fun I’m having with this DVD-R/RW drive, making all sorts of things for next to nothing, if you get my drift… 😉

The turntable has been gone for almost 10 days now for service, it was assumed that it was turning too fast, all I can say is thank goodness we got that 2 year extended service warranty for $9 when we bought the thing, we knew a good deal when we saw it.

I need to post here more often, that is, if you enjoy reading that is. I know my life isn’t as interesting as Ann Landers or Dear Abby, but I try, haha.

As of 12:50 PM on Friday, the LAN finally came back online. That is over two days of downtime. How efficient does this college want to be????

Gah.

I’ll have more positive words later…
