Saturday, Saturday

My trip to Danville was AWESOME yesterday. Me and John had a great time hanging out, drove around Danville, saw some of the new roads in the area, had a excellent lunch, and just shot the shit for the longest time. The way back was interesting, because I took a route I had never even considered, until then.

I decided to go full circle in the way home. Going there, I went up I-81 through Virginia to I-77, went Southbound on I-77, then eastbound for roughly 120 miles on US 58 until I arrived in Danville.

On the way out, I decided to pay a visit to North Carolina. So, I went down US 29 to Greensboro, then got on Green 85 (a business loop route), and then took I-40 westward. At Winston-Salem, I took Green 40, and ladies and gentleman, I finally clinched (or completely driven) a Interstate route! I feel accomplished. After that, took I-40 back through Asheville, and came back up I-26 to home. Total mileage: 605 miles. Wow, what a trip, and I had a blast the whole time.

Also, John took some new photos of me because I needed some, considering my last picture is almost five years old. They turned out good (except for one goofy looking one, which will remain concealed). I’ll try to get them posted soon.

Post-Mortem of the Sleep Deprived Fool

Well, here is the rest of my day of tiredness…

Got of at midnight, decide I need groceries. So I go to Wal-Fart Supercenter #599 in Kingsport and go in, do my shopping, and leave as quickly as possible. While in the checkout line, I noticed that they had a bin of $1.00 (yes, that’s right, $1.00) DVDs. I picked up two of them. The first is “The Boy in the Plastic Bubble”, which was a Movie of the Week for ABC (first broadcast 11/12/1976 according to IMDB), and “The Jackie Robinson Story” (of course, being a baseball fan :-).

First of all, I didn’t know anything with Aaron Spelling’s name on it (albeit his production company at the time), would let such a cheapie company put this out. The film quality was awful, as expected. It probably compared to when it first aired, but at least the sound is crisp. I only have gotten to see the first twenty minutes of it however.

The other film was released in 1950, and I have not seen it yet, what I read about it is very vintage. I see that MGM has released it on DVD… so I wonder if someone is just coming across old film prints and putting them out, much like the public domain cartoon collections you see (even with an occasional title that is NOT in the public domain).

Interesting… so, got home at 2:00, talked to John about Friday’s plans, and went to bed about 3:20. Slept like a baby for 9 hours. Today is back to normal, just as boring as ever. 🙂

Bought a new pair of jeans from K-Mart today, the only people that dare stock a size 50 in the major retail sector. Gotta find a new pair of shoes tomorrow, my current right shoe is ripping at the seams.

BTW, my take on Mr. Jennings on J!– he went at the best time, he was a good champion. I still think Thom McKee is the better champion in the likeability factor however, I just plain enjoyed seeing him on TTD for all the episodes I’ve seen of his run, he was the most enjoyable and laid back of all great champions, unlike Ken, who just seems to outdo everyone and purposefully (in my opinion, and on his own perogative) took a fall, and Michael Larsen, who was just plain wacko to know those board patterns on PYL (and still amazes me to this day). Disagree if you will, but that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Sleep, Need Slee.. ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz…..

Here are the last two days of my life:

Monday: 3:30-12:00 Midnight- Work. Uneventful.

12:10 Get Home, get a call from my friend John in Danville, VA. Plan to go there this Friday to hang out with him for the first time in person after two years of talking as friends over the phone.

Around 2-ish: Spiral Macaroni and Cheese for dinner after ending phone conversation. Great dinner.

Next Few Hours: Watch Several episodes of Price from the summer of 1983, the cross-promotions of Phone Home Game snipped out by GSN, but still fun to watch. Holly fell off a children’s Victorian furniture display as it was being wheeled out during the showcase on one show. I think a clip of that is on tpir.tv… check it out.

6-ish: Local News time, realized I had been up all night. Since I was flat broke and am one of the last few people left who get a paper check, I decided to wait up until 8:00 to get paid and take care of business.

7:30- decide to go to Citi and wait in the break room until I was able to get my check, catch the last few minutes of the ESPN25 top 25 Plays, naming #1 Kirk Gibson’s home run in Game 1 of the ’88 Series. Good choice for the last 25 years that is…

8:05- Got my paycheck, proceed to go the bank down the street. Now keep in mind, my car is on flat empty and I think I might have run out at any moment. I find out the bank dosen’t open until 9:00. Meh. So, I go up the road to that new Food City that opened up, as I know they cashed paychecks. The amount of the check was $6xx dollars, (and you must add that to the price of the prize to total $3000 to $350…. wait! This isn’t the Blank Check game!, another leftover from last night, hehe).

So, they tell me, “Sir, we can’t cash checks over $500”. So, I am furious at this point, and go back to my car, kick a tire, get in and go back to the bank, sit and wait until 9:00.

As an aside here: I got a letter in the mail yesterday showing my disbursements for my subsidized Stafford loan. I looked and said, “Where the @#%@ is my unsubsidized loan!?!?”, so, I called up Citibank’s 800 number, and asked if they ever processed an application, they said they never received any information. That did it, that smarmy financial aid office full of wonderful idiots did it again! I went down there in a fairly decent mood, inquired, and said that they would clear it up within a week. Great, and what will happen next in that week. I have a feeling it’s not over yet.

Back to today…

9:05- Check Cashed. Go to ETSU, above in last paragraph happened. Filled up my car a $1.76/gallon for Regular beforehand, it took $32.25 to fill up my gas tank… geez!!!!!!! Gas IS FRIGGIN EXPENSIVE!

10-ish: Went to Johnson City Mall. Nothing there. Boring.

12-ish: Went to Best Buy. Nothing there. Boring.

1:00, came home, went to bed for the first time in 26 hours. Yes, that’s right kids, 26 hours.

2:40, woke up, almost fell out of the bed. Got dressed, came into work.

Now, I finish this up at 4:56, and it’s one of the most blah feelings ever.
I’ll be OK. Feh.

Post-Thansgiving Wrapup

I had a great turkey day, had dinner with my family around 3:00, saw some British Weakest Link and of course “The Peyton Manning Show” in full swing. Marino can say bye-bye to that record for TD passes in a season.

Friday I was able to get my CD rom to work in the Dell, woot! Still can’t revive the hard drive, the enclosure seems to be the only way to go.

Today (Saturday) here at work is completely boring. But at least I have the NFL to look forward to tomorrow.

Also, I am planning to go visit a good friend, John C., in Danville, VA– yeah, it’s a long drive along I-81/I-77/US 58, but I love to go new places, and he’s a cool guy, so it’ll be fun. He’s even promised to get some new pictures of me, so hopefully I can get rid of that old picture of me that is almost 5 years old! (Has it been that long? Geez, I need to shitcan that picture fast!)

Pre-Turkey Day Thoughts

Well, my mom has decided to cook tomorrow, we’re having dinner at 2:00 PM. The situation with my mom is just as bad as it always have been. She’s quit what seems like the hundreth nursing job she’s ever had in the last 10 years because she let someone else or her stress dicatate how she lives. She always has a bad habit of mooching off of me for money… but not this time. 1) I don’t have it, 2) I wouldn’t give it to her. I love my mother, but if she’s going to keep a bad husband who’s a loudmouth redneck and is very very rude, then I’m not going to respect her for “just wanting to have someone” in him, it’s wrong and it’s ridiculous. I can always cite my last boyfriend. I learned my lesson very quickly and came back to reality.

Anyhoo, I don’t want to dampen your spirits. I wish everyone out here and everyone related to them a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Well, here we are, the historic 100th post of “The Trivia Trap” journal.

I decided on a new look for my journal, hope it dosen’t blind you 😀

A stressful day at work (as usual) which has become relaxing and slow in the later hours (as usual).

Trying to figure out how to take a faulty DVD-ROM drive out of the Dell I got and get my CD Rom from my old computer into the tower. I can only get one side panel off, the other side panel does not want to seem to even budge.

Also, I can’t get Windows to see my old hard disk as a slave drive, and I DO NOT want to reformat the damn thing and lose all my data. A friend says all I need is a external hard drive casing/enclosure, and that might work. One question, will I be able to use that to save my old data? We shall see…

Burnt a CD at the Johnson City Library today, that rocked, I got some of the stuff that has surfaced over at the Invision board burnt to CD. I forgotten how much I loved the Supermarket Sweep ’92 theme, but want to have the ’90 theme even more.

Not much to reflect on looking back on those spaced-out 100 posts, all I have to say is, here’s to many, many more!

Thanks to everyone for reading. 🙂

BTW, the icon was provided many moons ago by Mr. Mike Klauss (I hope you’ll like hearing that when you start teaching, hehe), thanks Mike.

EDIT: I did give Mark the code to get his LJ started, and it was Klaussie who got me started- my mistake 😛

Sunday Thoughts

NFL comment: now that the St. Louis Rams got embarassed yet again in Buffalo today, I don’t want to hear what Mike Martz will say next… I’m sure it’ll probably lead off on PTI tomorrow… well, maybe be a headline story, after the Detroit and South Carolina/Clemson incidents. I’m so glad I have a :15 break at 5:30 to catch the Headlines and Five Good Minutes portions of PTI. (And it’s your fault, yes yours, Mr. Klauss, for me getting insanely addicted to this show :-D)

Anyhoo, I checked my user statistics here on Livejournal, and not only have I been posting more not than often for a little over two years now, but this is post #99 of my journal. Some people do have significantly higher post totals, which is a good thing. Guess that means I don’t have that much to say in a journal sometimes, just when I have severe thoughts or minor emotional trauma. But, you know, looking back over the last two years of happenings in this journal, I’m glad I have had this to record some of the thoughts, issue and utter crap I’ve had to deal with since November of 2002. For those of you who don’t remember, read back around March and April of 2003, one of the most trying times of my life, and you’ll see what I turned out to be a better person (at least in my opinion) considering what happened in all aspects of my life at that time.

So, I’ll think of something witty for my next historic post, #100. Until then, keep smiling 🙂

College Update, and Misc.

Well, I got a master promissory note in the mail when I got home late last night, only after having gone to the financial aid office that day and asking where it was, and was given a number to call my lender and ask for one… so I guess I’m having a useless promissory note sent now, since I went online just now and electronically signed said MPN that I just received.

At least the loans are guaranteed to me now 🙂

Dan sold me his old computer for $50, and it’s going to do some good… just gotta get back online. However, I am still going to get a laptop, just because I always wanted one. My friend John from Danville said he has a friend that can sell me one for at the least $350, and he always has them in supply. Sounds like a good idea, he told me the quality of his products is top-notch.

BTW, David Livingston- if you’re reading this- please respond to the email I sent you.

A Moment of Silence, if you will…

I heard during my lunchtime tonight that the show I had twice attended, and was planning to attend this coming Monday, “So You Think You Know Sports”, has been cancelled amid season, reason being, the local cable company who does the show cannot affoird to pay the cameramen and crew. This is sad…

The show taped it’s last 2 episodes on November 1st, and the final show aired tonight. A guy named Chris who works in collections here at Citi was in the break room and told me it was the last show. All I can say is, RIP to a funny local show.

SYTYKS- 2001-2004 🙁

Another Day… Another Year

Well, just thought I’d let you all know that I celebrated turning 25 today by working (right now), going grocery shopping, paying bills, getting a haircut, and having two double cheeseburgers WITH mayonnaise (what a luxury!) at McD’s.

What a birthday indeed…
