What’s Going On? (and no, this is not that terrible 1954 ABC game show)

Hey kids, here’s the latest in my boring life…

Turned in my housing deposit ($150) and my orientation fee ($15) today. Last Thursday applied for the unsubsidized Stafford Loan. I went to the financial aid office to see when I would get a response back on said loan, and this ditsy, I mean REALLY ditsy girl says…

“So, like, you should get, like, something in about 2….. to 3 weeks.”

…If you can get the idea of how that sounds in a text translation, you will understand why I attach no validity to the answer I got. But, I’m sure something will come in the mail soon.

I have come to the conclusion that I need to get into shape, desperately. It’s not even funny anymore, I feel terrible, I don’t sleep good some nights (not all nights, but some), and I just think I need to do it or I’ll die before I turn 30.

Anyhoo, I hinted at my landlord that I’m probably moving out in the first part of January. I’m glad I said that, because he had a lease for me to sign.

Anyhoo again, gotta go, friends waiting on me to go do shit or something. 🙂

Peace.

College Adventures Part 3- “Math? Who Needs Math?”

So, I had to take a placement test today called the Compass test. And naturally, I only have to take the math portion of this test. And brother, being out of high school for 7 years did not do me justice, I have totally forgotten everything Algebra and Trigonometry related. Guess I could use some brush-up classes, which looks like where I’m headed.

I got my financial award letter, and got only $200 on a Pell Grant. Not surprising considering I’m going in for Spring. Did get a full $1750 subsidized Stafford loan. I have already submitted an application for an unsubsidized Stafford loan to cover the difference of costs.

Everything is looking good. On the computer front, once I get replenished with cash from lack of having to pay bills… I’m considering a EMachine (nudge nudge Klaussie), or a laptop. I’m more inclined to go with a laptop for the portability factor, and the fact that I can stop using paper scorecards at baseball games if I go that route. We’ll see how it goes.

On the other hand, attended another TV taping last Monday of same said show from before… threw out a couple of good questions about Casey Stengel prior to the Yankee regime only having one winning season, and Chuck Howley of Dallas being the only player to win Super Bowl MVP and be on the losing end (reference “Blunder Bowl V”).

Also, I have begun a research project for personal reasons into the history of the football team, locally, that I have been rooting for, the Daniel Boone Trailblazers, going all the way back to 1971. Only have made it to 1983 so far, still a ways to go.

So, I guess that’ll wrap it up for now, lots going on… I’ll try to update more often.

Edit: And by the way, the Red Sox are amazing! Go Boston, defeat whoever the next opponent may be!

MLB Playoff Thoughts

I am a dork when it’s playoff time in baseball. When I got off work last night, I stayed in a break room till 2:00 AM to watch Boston/Anaheim Game 2 on ESPN because, as everyone knows, I don’t have frickin’ cable at my pad.

In watching this game last night, am I not the only one who thought that Angels manager Mike Scoscia came close to popping an embolism in his brain twice during the game last night on bad ball/strike calls from the home plate umpire? While I am rooting for Boston, how much can one manager take of bad calls before he explodes like, say a Earl Weaver or Billy Martin?

Oh well, Boston is up 2-0 nonetheless heading back for Fenway and a possible sweep on Friday. Booyah!

Need Help…

Hey, if anyone has a repository of TV guides, mainly from the years of 1967, 1968 and 1969 please e-mail me. I have some inquiries that need to be fulfilled. Email to [email protected]… thanks!

Boredom and Financial Aid

Let me tell you, being at work lately equates to one of two things: boredom and frustration.

But I finally got to be in a TV audience on Monday the 30th of August. The local cable access station, Charter Main Street, does a sports trivia show called “So You Think You Know Sports”, and I sat in on two tapings (they usually do one, but taped a week ahead because of Labor Day), for air on the next two Wednesday nights. At the end of the show, they get some questions from the audience, and I threw out questions on both shows… it sucks that I can’t tape it or don’t have anyone to tape it for me, because as you know, I’m without cable… maybe I could try to get a copy of those two shows somehow…

Anyhoo…

I got online notification that my FAFSA had been processed, went and checked the website, and found that my EFC (estimated family contribution) is 3719!?!? What the !#%@????

They expect me to come up with THAT much? I… don’t… think… SO! Well, guess student loans are my only hope, and I hope those unpaid hospital bills from my kidney stone episodes don’t come back to haunt me when trying to get a student loan. I asked my supervisor about it, he dosen’t know anything in the student loan regard, the one area of credit bureau expertise he does not have. Oh well, I’ll just have to try and see what happens.

The car is doing great, and I am planning to go to Oak Ridge, TN on my football tour this Friday for a big big game, Dobyns-Bennett vs. Oak Ridge, both haven’t been tested, both have blown out all of their opponents, and I plan to get there at least 90 mintues before kickoff, if not earlier to get a decent seat for this one.

Toodles for now.

College Adventures- Episode 2- “Uncanny Patience Required”

Ok, so I went to ETSU yesterday, and after hours and hours of running around getting transcripts and filling out forms, I found out I got in too late. I had to change myself to Spring ’05 instead of Fall ’04. No bother, it’s probably better for myself in retrospect to be put on hold until spring. First, I’ll have an orientation December 7th, to which I get to learn my way around and find out about stuff, that will help for sure. It also gives me time to get everything prepared properly for moving onto campus. I think it’ll be good in the end.

Went to the Daniel Boone/Volunteer football game last night, DB having lost each of the last two years by shutouts both times…

…and DB SHUT THEM OUT! 21-0! WOOHOO!

What can I say, all in all an exciting day, even though it started out to be irritating, but got better, at least in my opinion.

College Adventures, starring Nicholas Mooneyhan- Episode 1- “Admission to Nowhere”

So, me and Jordan go to ETSU this morning, and of course I find out that I need to get my high school and college transcripts. I call Mountain Empire Comm. College, and they tell me it’ll take three (3) business days, to which I say, I need this faxed out today or tomorrow, they said she’d tell them… but I’m probably going to have to call and bitch them out tomorrow anyway so oh well.

For my high school transcripts, turns out I have to make an emergency last minute trip to Jonesville, VA and visit the school board office to get my transcripts, turns out I can’t get the transcripts at the high school because it’s been longer than five years since I graduated (gee, that’s comforting, only reminds me of the fact that reunion is now less than three years away). And, I have to pay $2 to get the transcript in the first place. What fun, so I made it back into Johnson City at about 3:15, and have more running around to do, so I got clearance to be an hour late to work (4:30).

And there is so much left to do still… tomorrow the financial aid war begins, and brother, it don’t look like it’s going to be fun. Mike, you may still be correct, but I have to try to get in under the last possible moment. If not, Spring is fine. But I’d rather start now.

Regarding my job, I’ll hopefully work it out to where I can stay full time, and if I can move into housing, I will have no bills other than my car, car insurance and my cell. That’s it. And with me staying full time, I can save a shitload of money in no time at all, to get ready for a rainy day, when and if it ever happens.

We’ll see how it goes.

Wish me luck kiddos! 😀

Future Plans

Well, my future is in question now… I want to pursue what I always have wanted to pursue… broadcasting.

Those who know me know I am into the know-how in front of and behind the camera or the microphone (albeit television or radio) and want to do something about it.

That and considering the future I have with Citibank have led me to pursue joining the bandwagon of Mike Klauss and others in looking into going back to college. Specifically East Tennessee State University. Me and a very good friend, Jordan, are going there tomorrow to see what I can do to get in there now or next Spring.

I have mentioned this to my supervisor here at work, and he says he’ll try to accommodate anything that comes up, including the possibilty of going part time.

The only thing that worries me is how much is this all going to cost… can I get aid or student loans to cover this all? I think looking at it in retrospect that Spring is a better alternative, but nothing is being thrown out at this point.

There is one person that I look up to and am very proud to know that is realizing his dream currently, and that is Kris aka Xanfan, and if you’re reading this, I’m going to pursue what I want to do now, and you’re my main inspiration for doing this, I have complete confidence that I will do good at this, and I am certain I have your full support.

So, all that is left is to see what can be done, and everyone wish me luck!

Ciao!

What the !@#$ am I up to?

Well, folks, I’m still trying to overcome life’s inconsistencies, and I have a preliminary fix on when I may be back online… maybe in September or October now.

Oh, well, that doesn’t mean that my life isn’t totally depressing. I would post more often about my life, but I don’t want to get in trouble for surfing the internet at work. And since I’m not posting from work, I think that it’s way too paranoid there anyway about surfing the internet. But anyhoo…

The ol’ Mustang is about to give out, if it can last until the 13th, my mom will buy it off of me and I’ll take that money and get me a better car, hopefully a ‘9x model, something decent that is more dependable than what I’ve been driving.

My job is going great, still working hard handling people wanting more than $25,000 on their Home Depot card, trouble is that half the people who ask have pisspoor credit it’s a joke and a waist of my time. But at least it gives me something to do. (If I sound bitter, I am, it just has been stressful a little bit lately).

The relationship front seems to be taking a turn for the better, I met a guy through a mutual friend who works at a local library, he’s very handsome and very sweet, we’re going to go see “The Village” on Friday night.

Speaking of which, I have Fridays off permanently, and I’m going to go watch a lot of High School Football games, yeah, for the first time in almost three years I get to live Friday night fever! Woot!

So, that’s all there is, so I’ll wrap it up, let me know you’re alive out there, shoot me some replies! Ciao!

Well, everyone must be wondering, where the hell have I been. It goes like this… I am broke as a joke, having to still come to my friend’s house to get online and even do anything. Life has sucked lately, but it has had it strong suits.

I have begun announcing at baseball games again (I had done this over three years ago for a short stint) at the local high school here in Gray, Daniel Boone High School, home of the Trailblazers… they’re a scrappy bunch with a lot of heart, ending up 8-27 for the season, but I love ’em, and I done my best for them to contribute to the game. I had a blast.

Job’s going fine, I now do highline requests, that is requests for higher lines of credit, very very detailed work in verification and checking, basically a zero error task. No stress… no stress… no stress… 😀

I don’t know when I’ll be back online if ever. I hope to be such someday, because I miss all of you guys very much.

Until we meet again, take care.
