NFL Thoughts

The 5 misses I had last week, most were shockers… but I shoulve known NOT to pick Dallas against TB, I had a bad feeling about that pick when I started watching the pregame reports on Sunday (I follow a general rule, that is not to change your picks after you make them public). But, 9-5 overall last week was between good and mediocre… not a bad start for hopping in at the midpoint of the season.

Here are my Week 9 picks…

Indianapolis at Miami– (tough choice, I hate to go against my team, but Indy does have the better hand here)
Carolina at Houston
Oakland at Detroit
San Diego at Chicago— (battle of bad teams, Chicago wins out again [by default??])
Jacksonville at Baltimore
New Orleans at Tampa Bay
New York Giants at New York Jets— (while neither team has secure offenses, I think the NYG offense will not be enough in this matchup)
Pittsburgh at Seattle
Cincinnati at Arizona– (I do not doubt the Bengals anymore!)
St. Louis at San Francisco
Philadelphia at Atlanta
Washington at Dallas— (tough tough game to pick, but I have to go with Dallas here because of the QB situation in Washington)
Green Bay at Minnesota— (contributing factor here, Farve’s record in domes)
New England at Denver– (another tough pick, Denver needs to solve their QB probs before I can confidently pick them to win a game)

Ok, so I picked Dallas again, but I think some reporters made a good point about Washington’s QB situation, that they don’t have an experienced for the job
in Patrick Ramsey.

That’s my picks, take em or leave em!

In memoriam…

I was preparing a normal post today, but news I have gotten wind of shocked me tonight. Rod’s passing is a blow to the game show world, one that it will take time to recover from. My thoughts are with his loved ones and friends tonight for this great loss, and us as fans will always remember him for his warmth and enthusiasm he brought to every venue and every show that he worked on. I remember, when I was a child of 5, when Johnny Olson passed away, I didn’t understand death too much at that time, and had to ask mom what happened. And she told me, “he went to a better place”. That’s how we all can remember him now, he’s in a better place, one without pain, one without misery, and one surely comprised of joy. When we all join that game show up there someday, we’ll get to be in his audience again. I look forward to that day. Until them, I’ll say, we’ll miss you Rod.

Thoughts

The Marilns win. Just as I thought. Beckett pitched a very good game, hats off to him and the Marlins.

And Don Zimmer won’t be back in New York, he’s not the first to bash heads with ol’ Steinbrenner (remember Billy Martin?)

A side thought on the World Series

I will say it now for all to hear, I think the Yankees are fucked. Florida is going to take the series Saturday or Sunday.

Game 5 proved that to be all that can be assumed.

A Promise….

A promise to you all, I promise to be more of netizen from now on… and (I know it’s week 8 and I didn’t start at the beginning of the season).. I’ve got a prognostication bug and need to make some picks myself for Week #8, so here it goes… (and I have been watching!)

(predicted winner in Italics)

NY Giants at Minnesota
Cleveland at New England (hey, they beat my Dolphins last week!)
Carolina at New Orleans (no contest)
Dallas at Tampa Bay
Tennessee at Jacksonville
Denver at Baltimore
Detroit at Chicago (this was a hard one to pick :-P)
Seattle at Cincinnati
St. Louis at Pittsburgh
San Francisco at Arizona (it won’t even be close)
Houston at Indianapolis
NY Jets at Philadelphia (yes, you read this right)
Buffalo at Kansas City
Miami at San Diego (you think my Dolphins are going to lose to the Chargers?)

I’ll definately be making prognostication a weekly habit, I’m too much enjoying this season not to do this…

The Curse(s), a commentary….

All I can say of what I witnessed in the Top of the 8th in Game 6 of the NLCS is….. unbeliveable and shocking, the champagne was pratically bubbing, and it all got turned around… and somehow I had a feeling something like that might happen, it just plays right into history. Over on the ALCS side, I think it’s still up in the air what will happen tomorrow afternoon in NY for that Game 6, but I hope (yes Mike, you’ll read this correctly) that Boston can win and force Game 7.

My own personal curse will hopefully come to an end tomorrow, as I am going car hunting, and hopefully I won’t have to WALK to work anymore!

Wish me luck! Go Red Sox!

I have been grappling with my personal and my physical appearance lately, concerned to the point where I need to take some action to get more positive into my life, and hopefully get a boyfriend!

I have had a infection in my leg since late Friday, and have been confined to be off my leg until next Monday, also on some Augmentin to kill the infection. At the doctor’s today, I weighed at 320 pounds! Ack! I have gained 55 pounds since 12/31 of last year. I would look into doing something about it, but, my car has decided to take a turn for the worse also, the transmission is about to go completely, it already has problems changing gears (I have an automatic). I don’t know where I’m gonna find another or get the money for it.

Let’s face it: I suck at managing money.

But, let’s face this, at least I’m alive! 🙂

Gee, I don’t post often enough anymore

Well folks, here is an update on the world of Nick…

Got work today from my supervisor at work that he had looked at some quality scores of my calls, he said that everything is looking very good. I finished my new accounts training last week, and am wrapping up a week of sponsorship, then back to normal duty and hopefully a pay raise for doing a cross-skill other than my regular customer service (which is the new accounts), everything couldn’t be better.

Nothing doing in the relationship front, and hopefully it’ll stay that way. My car is acting up, it can’t make up it’s mind what gear it wants to be in anymore. I don’t think it’ll last much longer, so I’m seeing what I can do to find a better used car (like I can ever get a new car with my credit reputation). I’ll figure something out, hopefully.

I got 5 days of vacation coming up Oct 21-24 and the 27th (25th and 26th on the weekend). Hopefully I can get somewhere that I’ve never been before to visit someone special 🙂

Other than that, I’m having a healthy diet of 4 CD’s of Dark Shadows music, and getting ready to do the TPIR summaries starting next Monday.

That’s all for now…

Website Hijinks, starring Bosko

Well, I am making it my personal mission today to get as much of my website back online that I can, and it will be in a new format. I will try as much as possible to have a personal frontpage and to put my game show page in a subfolder. Just to let people know I’m more than game shows so to speak. I will be opening up a new Dark Shadows page, and I hope it goes well.

In other news, I went out last night and had a great time, unwinded a little bit, had a drink to try to clear my kidney stones a bit. Life is pretty good right now, I can’t complain. Anyhoo, going out again tonight with my friend Jon.

I have to try to post more often. I’ll try to when I feel like it. Procrastination is the devil!
